FOLLOWING warm-up activities such as on-the-spot painting, performance art and sculpturing for the Nanhai E-cool Art Season, organizers officially launched the art season by hosting the “Art and Product Design” seminar May 23.
The Nanhai E-cool Art Season is a collaboration by the Nanshan District Cultural Industry Development Office, China Merchants Real Estate (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd. and ART2.hk. It aims to explore new culture and creativity in Shenzhen’s urban development in the coming years. The art season series is comprised of 20 activities, including three exhibitions and three seminars.
The exhibitions, namely the “Milestone of Industrial Civilization” outdoor art show, the “Vision and Thought” interior art show and the “Integration and Innovation” spot show, will run through June 30.
Dozens of artists, designers, entrepreneurs, executives and reporters from Shenzhen and neighboring Hong Kong and Guangzhou attended the first art seminar May 23. Hundreds of netizens also participated in an online discussion.
The organizers will hold an “Art and Urban Renovation” seminar at 2 p.m. Monday and an “Art and Fashion Industry” seminar at 2 p.m. June 5 in Building 3 of Nanhai E-cool at the intersection of 3 Gongye Road and Xinghua Road near the Sea World Plaza in Shekou.
Nanhai E-cool, a creative industrial park in Shekou, was transformed by China Merchants Group from the former Sanyo workshops to meet the Shenzhen government’s development strategy of a “culture-based city.”
It’s a professional cultural industry base integrating multiple industries such as animated games and creative design.
E-cool comprises six blocks of five-story workshops with a floor area of 45,000 square meters and a total building area of 100,000 square meters. The area of each block is about 16,000 square meters.
